This award recognises a student, trainee, apprentice or healthcare professional in their first five years who has shown exceptional care, commitment and potential. Judges look for impact relative to experience and feedback from patients and colleagues.

Additional criteria
Entries should include a concise case study, supporting figures and, where possible, feedback from patients, service users, families or colleagues. Never include information that could identify a patient or service user: describe cases in anonymised terms and give figures as percentages or ranges. Nothing in an entry is shared beyond the judging panel. Judges consider the size of the service, team or organisation, so smaller providers compete on equal terms.
